Sonja and her husband made the decision to give their life together a significant turn back in 2018 . A personal special event was the trigger to give up their previous (professional) life in a semi-detached house in a community in the commuter belt of Frankfurt am Main and to live 8-5 differently and, above all, somewhere else. This was followed by a phase of selecting a new home country, and after evaluating the various criteria, the decision was made: we are going to Paraguay, the hidden gem, often called the heart of South America.

The move took place at the end of 2021, after the house was sold, the jobs were terminated, and the container was packed with the personal belongings that are also important to them in Paraguay.

For more than three years, she has now lived in Paraguay, enjoying its beautiful nature, slower lifestyle, and friendly people.

Paraguay is full of different country sides: from green hills to wide open spaces like the Chaco, and stunning places to explore. The low cost of living and calm surroundings make it the perfect place for Sonja to live a happy and independent life.

Having learned a lot about living in Paraguay she has discovered explored hidden treasures like the Saltos del Monday waterfalls and Ybycuí National Park. She has also adjusted to the culture and the different, sometimes slower pace of life. It hasn’t always been easy, but she knows that challenges can bring great rewards.

By experience Sonja has figured out, where to shop, how to find the perfect home and adapt to local traditions. Her journey has taught her that trying new things and trusting the process can lead to amazing adventures. Now, she is excited to share what she’s learned with others who are thinking about moving to Paraguay.
